Into the new year at high speed
The new year is here and we’ve got many things to tackle at NETWAYS Web Services.
For starters, it’s not our CEO Sebastian providing you with the latest news anymore, but our Platform Advocate Daniel (Hi, I’m Daniel 🙂).
Our portfolio and our platform will also get quite a few new features this year - stay tuned!
However, enough with the introductions, here’s the first batch of product news, interesting blogs and articles from our team and me, and a handy CLI tool to try out at the end of this newsletter.

New Cloud Server variants: more for less
Already back in December ‘24, we rolled out two new variants for our cloud server offering: Performance and Dedicated.
p-models (for Performance) run on vCPUS of the AMD EPYC family, and provide at least 200% more performance compared to our current s-models.
With the d-models (for Dedicated), you can secure these vCPUS for your exclusive usage - no more ‘noisy neighbours’ or throttling when peak performance is needed!
No matter which variant, the value for money is immense. Sounds interesting? Our CEO Sebastian introduced the news in detail on our blog, including our benchmarking results.

Lightweight Kubernetes with K3s
In our first blog post of the year, I took a thorough look at K3s, a Kubernetes distribution especially well suited for operations ‘at the edge’ or in smaller setups.
From the ideas and motivations behind K3s to architecture, installation, and configuration you learn everything you need to know to start right away. I even bust some myths at the end. 😉
Events

NWS is sponsoring stackconf 2025
stackconf is one of our favorite conferences: great talks, interested attendees, and worldclass socializing and evening event - count us in!
That’s why we are sponsoring the conference again this year, which will take place in Munich, Germany, on the 29th and 30th of April. We even managed to get a neat 20% discount on conference tickets for our readers and clients with our discount code NWS_20.
So make sure to get your ticket and meet us in Munich!
Reading Corner
At NWS, we constantly learn new things, find interesting bits and pieces on the internet, or find funny takes on tech topics - here’s a selection of our favorites over the past weeks:
- Daniel wonders which shenanigans to pull with a custom Kubernetes controller:
So you wanna write Kubernetes controllers? - Kubernetes professor Justin added a few best practices when working with Kubernetes to his list:
Kubernetes best practices I wish I had known before - Sebastian found a recipe to creating XML+PDF invoices, required for compliance reasons:
ZUGFeRD/X-Rechnung: create required XML+PDF invoice format for EU compliance for 2025 in Ruby + Ghostscript - Like most, we also learned about the existence of DeepSeek over the last couple of days:
The impact of competition and DeepSeek on Nvidia
CLI Quick Win
Do you work with Kubernetes? You will love kubectl cond! With this open-source kubectl plugin, you can display the status of Kubernetes objects in a (more) human-readable format:
